You can buy IOTA, like other cryptocurrencies by using something called a Crypto Exchange. Please click below for guide on how to buy IOTA on the exchange you wish

It is recommended that you use Binance to buy IOTA. Why? Binance has shown to be the most capable buying platform recently, it has not crashed like Bitfinex and continues to have 100% uptime.

Head over to registration page for Binance. Enter your details. When you click register you will then need to verify your email.

Once you have verified your email address and once you log back, Hover your mouse over the Funds link in the navigation bar across the top of the page. It should then reveal a drop down menu. Click Deposits Withdrawls

You will see a lot of cryptocurrencies on this page. Find bitcoin BTC and click the Deposit link at the end. This will then slide down and reveal your receiving address

Now we need to send some Bitcoins to Binance so we can trade them in like we did for the Bitfinex steps above. So sign up to a CryptoCurrency Wallet Provider, Again I recommend Coinbase and purchase your Bitcoins using what ever currency you wish.

Again, from our Coinbase account that we have just created and bought our bitcoins with we will need to send them to the address that you generated on Binance. You do this by going to Accounts and then clicking the Send button under the wallet of the currency you purchased.

After you click Send, a dialogue window will pop up and this will ask you to enter an address to send bitcoin to. This is the address that we got from Binance when you clicked deposit. This dialogue is also where you will be able to enter the amount of bitcoin you want to send to buy IOTA with.
Note: Sending to Binance may take a few hours. So not panic if it is not instant. It could take 12 hours. Especially with all this BTC Folk stuff going on.

Once your bitcoin has been received by Binance hover over the Exchange link at the top left of the page next to the Binance logo. This will show you a drop down menu. Click Basic

Find and click your trading pair in the right hand column. Because we are wanting to buy IOTA with bitcoin we are looking for IOTA/BTC. Obviously if you sent Etherum over instead you would be looking for IOTA/ETH.

You will now be able to see the buying form. Fill this out with the amount of IOTA you want to buy and then click the Buy IOTA button.

All Done. That might take some time to go through. Even though IOTA is fast it is the exchange that you are dealing with.

Head over to Bitfinex and Signup using the Signup link in the top right corner of the website.

Enter your details. Click the Have a referrer? link and enter: hlAAH3g9E7. This will give you 10% discount on trading fees in the first month.

Then Click Open Account. Bitfinex will then send you an email to verify your email address. Follow the instructions in that email. It is just a link you need to click.

Once you have verified your email and once you are logged in, click the Deposit link at the top right of the website.

You will then be given a list of options to deposit into Bitfinex. Select Bitcoin from the list of available deposit currencies

If you are wondering how to buy IOTA with USD or GBP only then there is currently no way to do this. Bitfinex do not offer a GBP option and recently the USD option has been paused. This might be coming back in the future and they have advised people to keep an eye on https://www.bitfinex.com/posts. As it stands at the moment, the only way to buy IOTA is to use another cryptocurrency and then to trade it for IOTA.

Now, once you have clicked Bitcoin you will see three options: Exchange Wallet, Margin Wallet, Funding Wallet. Under Exchange Wallet click the link that says Click to Generate Address.

Sign up to a CryptoCurrency Wallet Provider like Coinbase and purchase your Bitcoins using what ever currency you wish.

Now, from the Coinbase account you just created and bought bitcoins on you need to send them to the address that you generated on Bitfinex. You do this by going to Accounts and then clicking the Send button under the wallet of the currency you purchased.

For the purpose of this "How to buy IOTA" guide new accounts were created and as such the coinbase account had no balance. The image of the Send button is greyed out. When you have an available balance it will be blue.
Note: Sending to Bitfinex may take a few hours. So not panic if it is not instant. I have witnessed either 5 min transfers and also 7 hour transfers.

Once that happens you need to hover over the Trading link found at the top left of the website. This will give you other options, scroll down until you are hovering over IOTA. This will pop up one more sub level and make sure you select IOTA/BTC which is IOTA -> Bitcoin.

In the left hand side of this page you will see this box; Click the two circle green dots above both of those fields and then click Exchange Buy to get all your BTC exchanged to IOTA.
